Job description

Head Cook – Starting Date: Aug 6, 2026

Location: Lincoln Public Schools, Lincoln, Nebraska.

Positions will begin August 2026. The Head Cook will prepare food items according to the daily food production schedule and approved standardized recipes, including special diet meals, ensuring compliance with HACCP requirements. The role requires close collaboration with the Manager to ensure sufficient quantities are prepared daily, a strong knowledge of food safety, high‑volume cooking experience, and familiarity with the proper use and cleaning of all food service equipment. Training will be provided.

Schedule & Hours

• School days only, Monday through Friday.
• Typical: 5.5 to 6.5 hours per day, between 6:30 am and 1:45 pm.
• Hours may vary.
• Candidate must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds, and frequently lift 25 pounds.

Compensation

• Wage range for 2026-2027: $19 / hr to $21 / hr (still being determined).
