Job description

General Summary of Position
Prepares and portions salads and desserts. Works on patient tray line. Passes and collects patient trays. Inventories and stocks department and patient care refrigerators and dry storage. Serves in the cafeteria. Operates grill, stocks the cafeteria and cleans area after meal service. Works on dish machine, stores clean dishes, pans and utensils, and washed pots and pans. Cleans and sanitizes work area and equipment.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.
  • Assists in the preparation, service and distribution of patient food according to departmental procedures.
  • Work and stock the following positions on the patient tray line: Starter, Assembler, Expo, & Checker Stations.
  • Delivers patient trays and prepare individual patient nourishments.
  • Inventory, stock and record temperatures of patient care refrigerators.
  • Assists in the preparation, display, service and close down of the cafeteria service according to departmental procedures.
  • Practices safe food handling practices according to departmental food safety policy. Records temperature required by food safety policy.
  • Operates dish machine, working both the clean and dirty end of dish machine. Ensures proper operation of the machine and is responsible for proper handling and storage of clean dishes.
  • Adheres to assigned cleaning schedule for work area and equipment as demonstrated by completed daily closedown list.
  • Minimum Qualifications
    Education

    • High School Diploma or GED preferred

    Experience

    • Previous experience in healthcare or institutional food services preferred
