Job Title

Nutrition Aide

Job Overview

6 hours per day, Monday‑Friday. Starting Date: Aug 18, 2026.

Pay: $15.69 per hour, spread over 12 months. Benefits: included.

Summary

This position supports food service activities at assigned locations. Responsibilities include preparing meal items to quality standards, serving food to students, maintaining food safety best practices, and supporting program regulations and accountability.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintain high quality control for food production and service; follow operational procedures and standardized recipes (20%).
  • Report observations and incidents involving students to appropriate personnel (10%).
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations; maintain documentation (10%).
  • Operate kitchen and school equipment safely, reporting any mechanical issues (15%).
  • Attend meetings, trainings, workshops as required (3%).
  • Practice food safety policies for cleaning, sanitation, temperature, and product rotation (10%).
  • Maintain a safe working environment and adhere to safety standards (10%).
  • Follow department policies for personal appearance and grooming (3%).
  • Maintain a positive and professional attitude, providing high service levels (5%).
  • Perform cashier duties such as taking orders and processing payments (10%).
  • Perform other duties as assigned (4%).
Education and Related Work Experience
  • No formal education required; high school diploma or GED preferred.
  • 1‑3 years of food service experience preferred, but not required.
Licenses, Registrations or Certifications
  • ANSI‑approved certification; ServSafe Manager Certification preferred (training provided).
  • Criminal background check required for hire.

  • Work safely with a wide variety of kitchen tools.
  • Adapt to changing priorities in the kitchen environment.
  • Self‑starter with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication.
  • Knowledge of food safety protocols and best practices.

  • Adhere to attendance expectations and absence reporting procedures.
  • Promote and follow district policies and Board of Trustees policies.

  • Recognize importance of safety and report unsafe conditions.
Materials and Equipment Operating Knowledge
  • Operate personal computers, peripheral office equipment, and office productivity programs (Microsoft Office, E‑mail) preferred at hire; required within 3 months.
  • Operate nutrition/kitchen equipment preferred at hire; required within 3 months.
  • Operate basic kitchen tools preferred at hire.
Reporting Relationships & Direction/Guidance
  • Reports to: Kitchen Manager.
  • Direct reports: None.
Budget and/or Resource Responsibility
  • None required.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

The position requires physical stamina to stand, walk, lift food, and use kitchen equipment safely in a busy environment. Reasonable accommodations may be made for employees with disabilities.
