Job summary

Mounds View Public Schools is seeking a Nutrition Service Employee to join our Nutrition Services team. This role involves daily meal preparation, serving, and assisting with food distribution in a school environment, Monday through Friday, 6.0 hours per day, starting September 8, 2026.

The position offers competitive pay at $20.02 per hour, with additional pay based on certification levels, and benefits including medical, dental, and paid time off in accordance with the Nutrition Services

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to obtain SNA Level I certification within 1 year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assemble food supplies and measure ingredients for meals per manager's specifications.
• Assist with food preparation and shipping to other locations.
• Clean equipment and service areas; wash dishes and utensils.
• Set up serving line and arrange items for customers.
• Assist with sandwich, desserts, salads, and other items.
• Serve food to customers and support kitchen management as needed.
• Attend trainings for professional growth.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

• Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions
• Knowledge of sanitation and safety practices related to handling and serving food
• Ability to use standard kitchen equipment, utensils and measurements
• Knowledge of basic food preparation including washing, cutting and assembling food items and ingredients

Physical Requirements

• Continuously stand, reach with one or both hands, lift up to 15 pounds; frequently twist, lift up to 40 pounds, push and pull up to 15 pounds; occasionally crouch, kneel, stoop, lift up to 50 pounds.

Job Responsibilities

• Assemble food supplies, measure ingredients and assist with preparation of meals according to specifications from the Kitchen Manager or Assistant Kitchen Manager.
• Assist with preparation of food for shipping to other locations.
• Clean all food service equipment and preparation and service areas; wash dishes, pots, pans and utensils used in preparation and service of meal.
• Set up serving line and gather carts, trays, napkins and utensils; place items in proper location for customers.
• Assist with preparation of sandwiches, desserts, salads and other items.
• Serve food to customers.
• If needed per the Manager of Nutrition Services, assume duties of Kitchen Manager or Assistant Kitchen Manager.
• Attend workshops, in-services, conferences or organizational meetings for continued professional growth and training.
• Other duties as assigned.
