Job summary

Westside Community Schools in Omaha, NE is seeking a part-time Kitchen Aide/Cashier for multiple locations. Responsibilities include cashiering, basic food prep, serving meals, and maintaining kitchen cleanliness. Ability to lift 40+ lbs and work with students and staff is required.

HOURS: 4+

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Multiple Tasks Include; but are not limited to:

• Cashiering and reconciliation. Maintain accurate counts for district reconciliation and School Nutrition Services records.
  • Some food prep and serving
  • Cleaning of kitchen, specified areas and equipment as required
  • Be able to carry cases of food, beverages, paper goods and prepared food
  • Be able to use all kitchen equipment necessary for preparation of food
  • Ability to work with school staff, students and community
  • Other duties as may be assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED

• Ability to communicate well with others
• Ability to take direction from Kitchen Manager
• Knowledge and ability of cleaning kitchen and preparation of food
• Cashiers:
  • prior cash register experience
  • able to count money correctly
  • able todeterminethe combination of food on a tray to make it a reimbursable meal.

PREFERRED

• Experience in a food service environment
• Knowledge and understanding of the Federal School Breakfast and Lunch Programrequirements and regulations including:

Offer vs. Serve

Qualifications for a reimbursable meal

Knowledge of portion sizes and proper kitchen procedures

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:(ADA Compliance Regulations)

• Be able to lift boxes or containers weighing 40+ lbs.
• Be able to stand on feet to perform job responsibilities
