The Nutrition Education Coordinator at University of Georgia supports the University's health promotion, prevention, and well‑being initiatives as part of a collaborative Health Promotion team between Dining Services and the University Health Center.

This role develops, implements, and evaluates evidence‑informed nutrition education and wellness programming that contributes to a comprehensive prevention, early intervention, and student well‑being strategy.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent.
  • Master's degree preferred in Nutrition, Kinesiology, Health Education, or related discipline.
  • Two or more years of professional experience in health education, nutrition programming, wellness promotion, or related student well-being initiatives preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate evidence‑informed, population‑based wellness interventions focused on nutrition education, healthy behaviors, and student well‑being.
  • Facilitate educational workshops and presentations for academic classes, residence halls, student organizations, and campus groups upon request.
  • Coordinate and facilitate cooking classes, demonstrations, and experiential learning opportunities within the UHC Nutrition Teaching Kitchen.
  • Serve as co‑advisor and instructor for the FDNS 5800 Peer Nutrition Educators course.
  • Develop innovative programming strategies and expand initiatives that promote a healthy, inclusive campus culture.
  • Coordinate nutrition‑related programming and outreach initiatives with campus partners.
  • Develop and implement creative health promotion messaging and outreach campaigns that encourage positive health behaviors.
  • Co‑facilitate interdisciplinary wellness programming initiatives in collaboration with CAPS and Fontaine Center staff.
  • Collaborate with faculty and academic departments to support internship and experiential learning opportunities for students.
  • Pursue ongoing professional development and research to enhance effectiveness in supporting diverse student populations.
  • Collaborate with Health Promotion, CAPS, and Fontaine Center staff on departmental initiatives and special projects.
  • Partner with peer institutions to identify and share best practices in collegiate health promotion and nutrition education.
  • Supervise undergraduate and graduate interns involved in community well‑being and nutrition education programs.

Position Summary

The Nutrition Education Coordinator supports the University's health promotion, prevention, and well-being initiatives as part of a collaborative and interdisciplinary Health Promotion team between Dining Services and the University Health Center. This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating evidence-informed nutrition education and wellness programming that contributes to a comprehensive prevention, early intervention, and student well-being strategy.

The Nutrition Education Coordinator collaborates with campus and community partners to advance a healthy and resilient campus culture through nutrition education, wellness coaching, outreach initiatives, and student engagement opportunities. This role also provides leadership in cooking education, peer educator development, and student wellness programming while supporting the overall mission and goals of the University Health Center and the University.

The Nutrition Education Coordinator reports directly to the Director of Nutrition Services for UGA Dining Services and works closely with Health Promotion staff, clinical providers, campus partners, and academic departments to support student success, persistence, and well-being.

  • Knowledge of evidence-informed health promotion, nutrition education, wellness coaching, and behavior change strategies.
  • Ability to develop and facilitate nutrition programming, cooking classes, demonstrations, and wellness education initiatives for diverse student populations.

  • Collaborate with faculty and academic departments, including the Department of Foods and Nutrition, to support internship, practicum, and experiential learning opportunities for students.

  • Collaborate with Health Promotion, CAPS , and Fontaine Center staff on departmental and interdisciplinary initiatives and special projects.

  • Serve as a nutrition and wellness resource for campus partners, student organizations, and university departments.
  • Assist leadership with researching grant opportunities and identifying funding sources for health promotion initiatives and wellness programming.
  • Supervise undergraduate and graduate student interns involved in community well‑being and nutrition education programs.
  • Support additional departmental initiatives, outreach efforts, and responsibilities as assigned.
Wellness Coaching & Student Support (20%)
  • Utilize qualitative and quantitative assessment data to inform wellness programming, outreach strategies, and health education initiatives.
  • Participate on university, regional, and national committees and professional organizations, including NASPA , ACPA , ACHA , AND , GAND , and NEGDA .
  • Support campus‑wide prevention and well‑being initiatives through collaboration, consultation, and strategic partnership development.
