Job summary

Qualifications

• Minimum two (2) years dietary related experience in an acute care or skilled nursing facility or a degree in a Food or Nutrition related field from an accredited program (to be verified upon hire)
• High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
• Food Handler Certificate (Oregon) required.
• Effective oral and written English language communication skills.
• General knowledge of special diets and nutrition therapy.
• Demonstrated customer-focused service skills.

Responsibilities

• Gather patient menus and obtain food preferences, clarify allergies, and communicate data to health professionals; record in the diet office system.
• Assist clinical dietitian in modifying menus to meet patient diet prescriptions.
• Daily use of the computerized diet office system.
• Monitor calorie, sodium, and fat-controlled patient selections per standards.
• Assemble trays according to menus and deliver to nursing units; remove used trays and supplies.
• Ensure trays are only left with accurate orders, maintain sanitation in patient food service areas, and keep the diet office neat and orderly.
• Answer phone and faxes; distribute messages to appropriate staff; assist with QA data collection; follow policies for equipment maintenance.
