Job summary

Adventist Health Simi Valley is seeking to provide clinical dietetic services by ensuring physician orders are implemented for patient meals and by assisting in clerical duties within Nutrition Services.

The role includes delivering meals, monitoring quality and sanitation, and collaborating with the dietary team to support patient nutrition needs in a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• High School Education/GED or equivalent: Required
• Associate’s/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred
• Technical experience: Preferred

Responsibilities

• Distributes and collects selected menus from patients in a timely way and assists with menu selection as needed
• Evaluates all food items served to patients for quality and temperature
• Follows sanitation guidelines including hairnet use and hand washing
• Prepares meals under supervision of a dietary manager or cook and prepares required reports
• Monitors food quality and delivers dishes and trays to designated rooms and times
• Cleans food stations, washes dishes and kitchen equipment, and manages inventory
• Maintains diet office and kitchen procedures to meet patient needs, including nourishments and menu selection
• Maintains patient snack cart and distributes per diet orders
• Maintains high quality, safe food per guidelines and regulations
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Job Summary

Provides clinical dietetic services by ensuring the diet ordered by physician is received by the patient. Assists in clerical duties for Nutrition Services department.

Essential Functions

• Distributes and collects selected menus from patients timely and completely. Assists patient with menu selection as needed. Evaluates all food items served to patients for quality and temperature. Follows all sanitation guidelines regarding food handling including the use of hairnet and hand washing.
• Considers age related factors when dealing with patient/guest. Prepares meals under the supervision of a dietary manager or cook. Prepares required reports and monitors food to ensure high quality. Delivers dishes and trays at designated times and rooms
• Cleans food stations and wash dishes, cooking vessels and silverware. Discards leftovers and take out garbage. Stocks ingredients and monitor inventory. Assists in keeping track of expenses and menu planning. Helps maintain kitchen equipment and appliances.
• Monitors and assists in the diet office and kitchen procedures to ensure patient needs are being met, including provision of nourishments and menu selection. Maintains and stocks patient snack cart and distributes to patients per diet orders.
• Maintains high quality, safe food as specified by Nutritional Food Services and all basic food handling guidelines as specified by Local, State, and Federal agencies.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
