Job summary

Adventist Health in Glendale, CA seeks a dietetic assistant to provide clinical dietetic services and support Nutrition Services. You will assist in implementing physician orders, help with menu selections, and ensure high standards of food quality and sanitation.

In this role, you will work under the supervision of a dietary manager, coordinate patient meals, monitor diet orders, and support clerical duties within Nutrition Services to help ensure timely patient nourishment.

Qualifications

  • High School Education/GED is required.
  • Associate’s/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience is preferred.
  • Technical experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Distributes and collects patient menus and assists in menu selection.
  • Prepares meals under supervision and ensures quality and sanitation of food items.
  • Cleans stations, stocks ingredients, monitors inventory, and assists in expense tracking.
  • Delivers dishes and trays to patients at designated times and rooms.
  • Monitors diet office and kitchen procedures to meet patient needs and nourishments.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Essential Functions
  • Distributes and collects selected menus from patients timely and completely. Assists patient with menu selection as needed. Evaluates all food items served to patients for quality and temperature. Follows all sanitation guidelines regarding food handling including the use of hairnet and hand washing.
  • Considers age related factors when dealing with patient/guest. Prepares meals under the supervision of a dietary manager or cook. Prepares required reports and monitors food to ensure high quality. Delivers dishes and trays at designated times and rooms.
  • Cleans food stations and wash dishes, cooking vessels and silverware. Discards leftovers and take out garbage. Stocks ingredients and monitor inventory. Assists in keeping track of expenses and menu planning. Helps maintain kitchen equipment and appliances.
  • Monitors and assists in the diet office and kitchen procedures to ensure patient needs are being met, including provision of nourishments and menu selection. Maintains and stocks patient snack cart and distributes to patients per diet orders.
  • Maintains high quality, safe food as specified by Nutritional Food Services and all basic food handling guidelines as specified by Local, State, and Federal agencies.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Pay Range : The estimated base pay for this position is $25.00 to $30.01. Additional individual compensation may be available for this role through differentials, extra shift incentives, bonuses, etc. Base pay is only a portion of the total rewards package, and a comprehensive benefits program is available for qualifying positions.
