The Woodlands Hospital is a primary and secondary care hospital serving North Harris and Montgomery counties. Clinical services include cardiovascular services, diagnostic imaging, women’s services (digital mammography and bone density studies), neurosciences, pediatric care (Newborn and Level II nurseries), surgery, pathology, pulmonary services, and sleep disorders. Clinical affiliations include The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center’s Radiation Treatment Center and Texas Children’s Hospital.

As our Nutrition Assistant II, you will interact daily with patients, families, visitors, and staff. You understand that most guests at our facility dine with us for a reason and take great pride in giving them one less thing to worry about.

Every day, you will provide nutritious food to patients, families, visitors, and staff to help promote their health and healing. You will follow the standards, regulations, guidelines, and procedures for the healthcare food service industry, which includes monitoring and maintaining food temperatures during cooking, holding, and storage processes. You will collaborate with the facility staff to ensure optimal nutritional care in all healthcare food service operations while demonstrating excellent customer service to patients, families, visitors, and staff.

Responsibilities

1. Exhibits high degree knowledge in food preparation and food production.
2. Ensures all food handling areas are sanitized and disinfected for the safety of employees, patients, and guests.
3. Accurately portions meals and beverages, including attention to detail concerning dietary restrictions, while ensuring an aesthetically pleasing presentation.
4. Supports team members in all areas of food services including cashier, stocking, cleaning, tray service, dishwashing, food storage, etc.
5. Explains basic therapeutic diet orders and menus and responds to questions from patients and family members. Escalates additional patient nutrition questions or needs to appropriate clinical support team members.

Qualifications

1. High School Diploma/GED or equivalent combination of education and experience.
2. Two (2) years of food service experience.
3. A Food Handlers Permit is required as outlined below:
