Job summary

Talentify is seeking a Nutrition Assistant - Per Diem for the WR unit to support infant and pediatric nutrition care. You will prepare fortified human milk and patient formula, interpret orders, and ensure accurate feeding processes.

You will collaborate with clinical dietitians, nursing staff and families, assist in training, and document discharge education. A high school diploma is required, and dietetic technician coursework is a plus.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; Dietetic Technician coursework a plus.
• Experience in hospital settings with barcode scanning and patient ID processes is a plus.
• Demonstrates skills with weights and measures; calculates recipes.

NUTRITION ASSISTANT - PER DIEM - WR

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for the communication, interpretation and processing of nutrition care orders for a specialty infant and pediatric population.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION

• Prepares fortified human milk and patient formula using a state of the art scanning program
• Interprets and processes feeding and meal tray orders
• Ongoing communication with clinical dietitians, nursing staff and the medical staff
• Participates in departmental meetings
• Double checks meal preparation process for inpatients and specific outpatient populations
• Completes and documents discharge education with families
• Assists in training of new personnel

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Educational Requirements

High School Diploma/Equivalent. Coursework or a degree in a Dietetic Technician program a plus.

Other Requirements Specific to Assigned Area

• Experience in a hospital setting using barcode scanning systems, patient identification processes and attention to detail is a plus.
• Previous experience in departments such as nutrition, foodservice, nursing (PCA) or pharmacy would be beneficial for this position.
• Demonstrates skills with weights and measures; calculates recipes.
• Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively with patients, parents/caregivers and members of the healthcare team.
• Ability to bend, stoop and lift 20 lbs. unassisted

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

Supervision Received

Reports to the Director of Clinical Nutrition Services for administrative and operational direction. Receives clinical supervision from the Registered Dietitians.

INTERPERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS

Directly interfaces daily with patients, visitors, other health care team members and other health system staff

TOOLS/EQUIPMENT USED

Uses digital and manual scales, various measuring devices, calculator and personal computer.

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT/WORKING CONDITIONS

Typical health care environment; occasional exposure to extremes of temperature. Ability to stand or walk for long periods of time. Ability to lift/carry cases of formula. Minimal or no risk of exposure to blood or body fluids.
