Job description

My client is searching for a Nut Former Operator is responsible for setting up and operating automatic nut forming machines equipped with five forming dies and automatic feeding systems. This role ensures the accurate progressive forming of metal wire into specialty nut products while maintaining quality, safety, and production standards.

• Operate and monitor automatic nut forming machines to produce quality parts according to specifications.
• Adjust machine controls, tooling, timing, and clearances to ensure optimal machine performance and product accuracy.
• Load and secure heading wire onto stock feeding mechanisms.
• Set up and adjust tooling, transfer fingers, and forming stations as required.
• Start and monitor machine operations, inspecting first-run and sample parts to verify compliance with specifications.
• Perform in-process inspections using micrometers, gauges, calipers, and other measuring instruments.
• Read and interpret blueprints, job orders, and tooling instructions to determine dimensions, tolerances, quantities, and tooling requirements.
• Maintain accurate production records, perform data entry, and support housekeeping and workplace safety initiatives.
• Utilize the 3-pan system throughout production runs.
• Identify and communicate machine performance issues or maintenance concerns to supervisors and maintenance personnel.
• Recommend process improvements to enhance productivity, quality, and efficiency.

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a fastener manufacturing environment or an equivalent combination of technical training and related experience.
• Strong working knowledge of nut forming machinery, tooling, and production procedures.
• Experience using precision measuring instruments and inspection equipment.
• Familiarity with Statistical Process Control (SPC) practices and quality standards.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts including:

• Addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
• Angles, radius calculations, and ratios
• Standard units of measurement and conversions

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical production and machine-related problems in standardized manufacturing environments. Must be able to interpret written, verbal, diagrammatic, and schedule-based instructions effectively.

Compensation

For this role is $125k+ bonus and 401k match. Also you'll be eligible for health, life, disability, dental & vison insurance.
