Job summary

The Summit Area YMCA is seeking an Infant Caregiver to provide nurturing care for infants 6 weeks through 18 months, supporting routines and developmental activities. You will observe milestones and communicate with families daily in a safe, engaging classroom aligned with YMCA standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED or equivalent is required.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Experience working with infants or in an early childhood setting strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practices preferred.
• Must meet all New Jersey childcare licensing requirements, including required background clearances.

Responsibilities

• Provide nurturing, responsive care for infants ages 6 weeks through 18 months.
• Support each child's daily routine, including feeding, diapering, napping, and comforting.
• Create age-appropriate activities that encourage exploration, sensory learning, and developmental growth.
• Observe and document developmental milestones while responding to each child's individual needs.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom that meets YMCA and state licensing standards.
• Communicate daily with families regarding their child's care, development, and accomplishments.
• Collaborate with fellow teachers to create a positive, supportive learning environment.
• Follow all YMCA policies, health and safety procedures, and New Jersey childcare licensing regulations.
