The Nursing Workload Coordinator is part of the Patient Care Services (PCS) Finance and Analytics team. This team supports PCS leadership and stakeholders by advancing access to data, data warehousing infrastructure, data analytics and visualization through use of the latest business intelligence, programming tools and technology solutions. The team collaborates closely with PCS leaders to use data assets in the areas of personnel/staffing, nursing workload, operations, and finance to drive data-informed decisions.

Responsibilities

The Nursing Workload Coordinator is responsible for the oversight and management of the nursing acuity and workload program at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH). This program covers three main areas:

Acuity Application Education

  • Works with MGH unit leadership to develop strategies for enhancing staff knowledge about Nursing Workload tool
  • Collaborates with Nursing Workload Coordinator peers across MGB and data analytics resources to develop analytic tools
  • Orients all new Nursing Leaders to Nursing Workload.
  • Conducts ongoing Nursing Acuity & Workload education to all nursing staff

Clinical Consultation And Accountability

  • Develops and maintains auditing program
  • Provides consultation in analyzing and interpreting data and understanding the relationship between acuity and staffing.
  • Serve as liaison to the MGB enterprise-wide acuity council

Technical/Application Accountability

  • Works with Mass General Brigham (MGB) Digital to facilitate software or version upgrades as they apply to the Nursing Workload program
  • Participates in testing, training, and implementation related to any software or version upgrades as they apply to the Nursing Workload program
  • Collaborates with application vendor in answering questions and solving problems as they relate to the application

The Role’s Key Qualifications Are As Follows

  • Valid Massachusetts RN licensure in good standing
  • Baccalaureate degree in nursing required
  • Strong clinical background – Minimum 5 years RN experience with at least 3 years of inpatient RN experience required
  • Expertise of electronic health records required
  • Preferred Clinical experience in an academic medical center
  • Proficient in use of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access
  • Project or program management experience strongly preferred, ideally in a health care setting

This is a hybrid role requiring the ability to work independently and manage concurrent projects and flexibility with work schedule to accommodate ongoing needs of program.

Job Summary

Responsible for analyzing, developing, documents and tracking clinical content. Develop and oversee completion of project plans and schedules and tracks the progress of content development and build including remediation efforts, enhancement and demand projects. Subject matter expert for assigned clinical function/area and provide guidance and mentorship to other informatics specialists.

Essential Functions

  • Manages the process for content development, standardization, coordination, maintenance and archiving.
  • Manages and coordinates gathering and synthesis of current clinical content and the development of new clinical content.
  • Manages content development and helps to inform build activities between and among work groups.
  • Leads assigned work groups and facilitates interactions and communication to arrive at solutions for content development and management.
  • Provides coordination and direction to complete the assigned clinical content tasks, produce the required deliverables, track and resolve issues, and meet the relevant project milestones according to the established timeline.
