Job summary

MedVet is a fast-growing Emergency and Specialty provider with practices nationwide. We are seeking a collaborative Nursing & ICU Veterinary Technician to join our clinical team in Mandeville, LA.

In this role you will support patient care on a 6p-6a schedule Wednesday, Thursday, and every other weekend, including tasks like phlebotomy, IV catheter placement, anesthesia induction and monitoring, and in-house lab work, while delivering client education and compassionate care.

Qualifications

• State Registered Veterinary Technician license preferred.
• Prior veterinary experience required; nursing or critical care experience desired.
• Proficient in calculations (drugs, constant rate infusions, unit conversions).
• Flexibility with work hours and ability to work additional hours when necessary.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather additional information as necessary.
• Evaluating incoming patients and prioritizing based on assessment.
• Partner with patient care team regarding treatment plans, client communication and nursing care concerns.
• Provide client education including home care instructions, medications and general wellness updates on hospitalized patients.
• Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures.
• Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients.
• Induce and monitor general anesthesia and sedation procedures.
• Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratory testing.

We are looking for: Nursing & ICU Veterinary Technician

Proposed work Schedule: Wednesday, Thursday, and Every other weekend from 6p-6a

Never a dull moment in the Nursing department! Our patients need constant supervision to ensure treatment plans are being executed. This department is perfect for someone who can identify patient distress and react accordingly, enjoys phlebotomy, placing IV catheters, assisting with recovery and client follow up and education.

What you'll do:

Who you are:
