Job summary

Baton Rouge General is seeking a Nursing Unit Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of the assigned nursing unit(s) with accountability for budget, staff performance and regulatory compliance. The role requires strong leadership, budget management, and the ability to supervise and train staff while maintaining patient safety and quality of care in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include hiring, performance reviews, disciplinary actions, and collaboration with other departments

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.
• Current Louisiana Nursing License.
• National certification in area of expertise strongly preferred.
• Ability to supervise and train staff, including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work.
• Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day management and operation of the assigned nursing unit(s).
• Direct reports include supervisors and staff, with responsibility for performance reviews, hiring, disciplinary actions and terminations.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure patient safety and quality of care while meeting organizational objectives.
• Develop and monitor staffing plans, budgets, and departmental performance to support BRGMC’s philosophy and metrics.
