Responsibilities

• Provides quality nursing care to Residents in an environment that promotes rights, dignity and freedom of choice.
• Supervises G.N.A's and subordinate staff; checks work to ensure assignments are completed.
• Contributes to performance evaluation of nursing personnel with Nurse Manager or Assistant Nurse Manager.
• Works with Nurse Manager to determine shift staffing requirements; makes recommendations on hires, transfers and dismissals.
• Reports problem areas to the Nurse Manager; assists in corrective action development and implementation.
• Reports disciplinary issues to the Nurse Manager; has authority to issue verbal and written warnings with specifics.
• Supervises direct care of residents and nursing staff on the shift.
• Gives and receives shift reports.
• Rounds the unit multiple times to ensure proper care in a safe, clean environment.
• Keeps physicians and families informed of resident condition changes.
• Assists in developing comprehensive care plans.
• Completes medical records documenting care and other information per nursing policies while maintaining confidentiality.
• Ensures infection control and standard precautions are maintained; follows safety precautions with equipment and supplies.
• Reports hazardous conditions, damaged equipment and supply issues to appropriate persons.
• Maintains resident comfort, privacy and dignity; interacts with warmth and respect.
• Answers and responds to call lights promptly and courteously.
• Assists with new admissions, readmissions and transfers between rooms within the facility.
• Communicates effectively with residents, visitors, families, peers and supervisors.
• Attends and participates in departmental meetings and in-services as directed.
• Communicates with other employees in a private and respectful manner.
• Works and is proficient with computer systems designated by the company.

Job description

1. 1. Provides quality nursing care to Residents/residents in an environment that promotes their rights, dignity and freedom of choice.
2. 2. Provides supervision to G.N.A's and all subordinate staff which includes checking their work to ascertain that assignments have been completed.
3. 3. Contribute to the performance evaluation of nursing personnel assigned to the unit with Nurse Manager or Assistant Nurse Manager.
4. 4. Work with Nurse Manager to determine your shift's staffing requirements, and making recommendations to the Nurse Manager concerning employee dismissals, transfers, hires, etc.
5. 5. Report problem areas to the Nurse Manager. Assist in developing and implementing corrective action.
6. 6. Report personnel disciplinary issues, or challenges to the Nurse Manager or Assistant Nurse Manager. Authority to provide verbal and written warnings documenting specific areas for improvement.

12. 12. Completes medical records documenting care provided and other information in accordance with nursing policies while maintaining strict confidentiality.
13. 13. Assure that established infection control and standard precaution practices are maintained when providing care. Follow established safety precautions when preforming tasks and using equipment and supplies.
14. 14. Reports all hazardous conditions, damaged equipment and supply issues to appropriate persons.
15. 15. Maintains the comfort, privacy and dignity of Residents/residents and interacts with them in a manner that displays warmth, respect and promotes a caring environment.
16. 16. Answer and respond to call lights promptly and courteously.
17. 17. Assist with new admissions, re-admissions and assist with the transfer of Residents to different rooms within the facility.
