Job summary

The University of Iowa Health Care is seeking a Nursing Unit Clerk (NUC) for the Vascular and Neuroscience Intermediate and Acute Care Unit (2RC). This on-campus role involves clerical and reception duties to support patient care and nursing services.

You will operate electronic communication systems, admit patients, assist with tests and appointments, and maintain census and charge records while participating in unit meetings and daily operations.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school with clerical/health care experience totaling one to two years.
• Desirable: 6 months of clerical experience, public contact/customer service, medical terminology knowledge.
• Proficiency in MS Word and MS Excel.

Responsibilities

• Communicates with patients, visitors, and staff to coordinate care.
• Maintains electronic systems for messaging, scheduling, and call light support.
• Processes patient charges and census information accurately.
• Assists in scheduling tests and appointments.
• Maintains unit supplies and participates in meetings and in-services.
