Job summary

Cone Health Nursing Technician position supports the Registered Nurse by observing and documenting patient conditions and assisting with daily tasks and mobility under supervision.

You will help admit, transfer, and discharge patients, assist with clinical procedures such as monitoring vital signs and glucose, maintain safe supplies, document care, and respond promptly to nurse delegation to ensure coordinated patient care.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Nurse Aide Certification required by NC DHHR.
• BLS CPR certification required.

Responsibilities

• Supports patients with daily living tasks and progressive mobility.
• Assesses nutrition, hydration, and elimination to anticipate needs.
• Admits, transfers, and discharges patients per plan of care.
• Assists with clinical procedures: monitor vital signs, obtain EKGs, and other tasks.
• Maintains unit inventories and ensures a safe environment.
• Ensures fall-risk patients have proper armbands and signage.
• Documents all patient interactions and procedures.
• Responds to nurse delegation to ensure coordinated care.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Overview

The Nursing Technician supports the Registered Nurse through observing and documenting patient conditions. Working under close supervision, this role assists with patient support through progressive mobility and assistance with daily tasks as needed.

Responsibilities

• Supports patients with daily living tasks, including meals, personal care, and progressive mobility in order to support the recovery and plan of care.
• Assesses patients' quality of life related to nutrition, hydration, and elimination in order to distribute resources and anticipate patient needs.
• Admits, transfers, and discharges patients in order to move them to the appropriate locations in line with the plan of care.
• Assists with clinical procedures, including monitoring blood glucose, recording vital signs, obtaining EKGs, applying restraints, and attending to elimination needs to provide comfortable care for patients.
• Helps to maintain unit inventories of supplies and medical equipment in order to ensure a clean and safe environment in adherence to the National Patient Safety Goals.
• Checks that fall-risk patients have the appropriate armbands, socks, and signage to ensure physical safety.
• Helps document all clinical procedures, patient interactions, and medication use to maintain a detailed patient history.
• Responds promptly to delegation from registered nurse staff and shares patient observations to ensure efficient collaboration.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
