The Nursing Technician is a Washington-registered nursing student or eligible recent graduate who provides patient care and performs only those nursing functions that are within the individual’s education, skills, and knowledge; have been verified in writing by the nursing program; and are authorized by hospital policy. The Nursing Technician practices only under the direct supervision of a qualified Registered Nurse (RN) who has agreed to supervise and is immediately available. The RN retains responsibility for the nursing process and the patient’s overall nursing care.
The Nursing Technician may perform the following only when included on the current nursing-program verification, validated by the hospital, permitted by policy, and assigned by the supervising RN:
