Job summary

St. Joseph Hospital in Bethpage, part of Catholic Health, is hiring a Nursing Technician. You will assist in patient care under RN/LPn supervision, set up telemetry and monitor cardiac rhythms, and document in the medical record.

Qualifications

Located in Bethpage, St. Joseph Hospital that provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient medical, critical care and surgical services. Its Emergency Department cares for approximately 33,000 patients a year. Other vital services include an Ambulatory Surgery Unit, The Center for Sleep Medicine, Hyperbaric and Wound Healing Center, CHS Cancer Center, The Center for Speech and Swallowing Disorders, Diabetes Education Center and a full scope of outpatient radiology services, including Cardiac CT.

Job Details

Responsibilities:

• The Nursing Technician assists in the care of patients by performing various duties under the direction of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse.
• Sets up and operates telemetry and electrocardiogram equipment.
• Monitors cardiac rhythms and observes telemetry tracings for assigned patients.
• Ensures monitor alarms are appropriately set and functioning.
• Identifies and interprets cardiac rhythms, including normal and abnormal patterns.
• Implements and reviews cardiac monitoring orders in collaboration with nursing staff.
• Assists in patient data collection.
• Documents accurately on the patient's medical record and on other forms.
• Performs treatments and procedures according to established hospital policy and procedures.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED Required.
• Must have successful completion of a duly authorized CNA Training Program ORis a student enrolled in anursing program who has completed fundamentals of nursing including clinical rotation ORrelevant work experience, including nursing assistant and/or personal care aide
• Alternate experience in lieu of the above to include: Successful completion of an Advanced Medical Technician program, required OR One (1) year active, full-time experience either in a pre-hospital setting or hospital setting as a telemetry technician (preferred)
• BLS from American Heart Association required.
• Must be computer-literate. Must be able to read and write basic English
• For the Emergency Department: will accept certification by the NYS Department of Health as an AEMT-CC or EMT-B in lieu of above experience

Salary Range

USD $29.43 - USD $29.43 /Hr.

The salary range or rate listed does not include any bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation that may be applicable to this job and it does not include the value of benefits.
