MN Adult & Teen Challenge is seeking a Supervisor of Nursing Services to oversee nursing staff across a campus or program. The role ensures timely access to nursing care, manages medications, and coordinates with clinical leadership to maintain high-quality medical services for clients.

The ideal candidate holds Minnesota RN licensure, brings leadership experience, and can navigate complex health needs for individuals recovering from addiction.

Qualifications

  • Licensed Registered Nurse.
  • Have and maintain current nursing licensure with the state of Minnesota.
  • Prefer 5 years of increasingly responsible experience which demonstrates proficiency in the skills and knowledge required to perform the job.
  • Ability to successfully complete background check process.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be comfortable working with people with life-controlling challenges, including mental health and addiction.

  • Must have at least 1 year of freedom from problematic substances.
  • Exceptional ability to successfully manage multiple concurrent projects with competing deadlines and frequent interruptions.

  • Excellent organizational skills with ability to bring order to unstructured environments.
  • Excellent computer skills including typing, word processing, spreadsheets and general familiarity with database programs.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and respond to the medical needs of clients at assigned campus or program, ensuring timely access to nursing care.
  • Review admission notes and applications, identify at-risk clients.
  • Meet individually with clients who have health concerns/assess/ refer as needed and treat.
  • Manage medication issues identified during assessment or referred to by staff or counselors.
  • Consult with Program Managers, Program Directors & program staff regarding client physical and mental health issues.
  • Escalate challenging client physical and mental health issues to the Manager, Nursing Services/Director of Nursing and program leadership.
  • Respond to staff requests to see clients for medication and other health concerns.
  • Responsible for destruction of medications.
  • During screening, work with admissions to perform nursing/medical assessment and refer as appropriate.
  • Manages and provides nursing supervision for LPNs, RNs, Addiction Services Coordinators and Medication Coordinators for the assigned campus or program.
  • In partnership with the Treatment Director and Manager, Nursing Services/Director of Nursing, reviews new applicants, interviews and selects candidates for nursing-related positions.
  • Onboards new nursing staff and provides ongoing training for LPNs and Medication Coordinators.
  • Partner with Manager, Nursing Services to implement initiatives to improve quality of client care.
  • Complete annual performance reviews for direct reports. Provide coaching and address performance issues.
  • Works with Treatment Director to schedule nursing staff to meet program needs.
  • Integrates nursing staff into the clinical counseling team by participating in weekly staff meetings.
  • Ensures Clinical Counselors and Recovery Coaches know how to make referrals to nurses.
  • Provides medication training for staff and oversees the day-to-day medication management.
  • Provides health education for clients and staff as appropriate e.g. infection control, first aid.
  • Assist in restocking first aid kits.
  • Assist in re-supplying each building with OTC meds, medical/first aid supplies.
  • Meet with Manager, Nursing Services/Director of Nursing and Treatment Director weekly.
  • Enter all physical exams, TB results and labs for clients into database.
  • Enter nurse notes for all health interactions with clients into QuickMar database.

Job Summary
The Supervisor, Nursing Services is responsible for supervising nursing staff for assigned campus or program ensuring excellent medical care for clients. This role oversees medical management; nursing services and provides direct medical care for clients.

Reporting Structure
The Supervisor of Nursing Services will report to the Treatment Director for program & operational supervision (work hours & days, groups, availability to clients, integration with clinical team) and will report to the Manager of Nursing Services for nursing & medical supervision (med management, case
consultation, medical best practices etc.).

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Target Compensation (Negotiable based on Qualifications)

$75,000-$83,000/year
