Job summary

Minnesota Adult & Teen Challenge is seeking a Recovery Care Supervisor to oversee daily operations for Recovery Care Specialists in a residential treatment setting. You will coordinate staff workflow, scheduling, documentation, and ensure compliance with MnTC policies, DHS requirements, and 245G standards.

You will lead staff development, support on-floor supervision, and collaborate with program leadership to maintain a safe, respectful, and effective program environment focused on client care

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor of Arts/Science or associate degree in health/human services field preferred or one year of relevant experience.
• At least 21 years of age and eligibility for required trainings.
• Experience in supervision or lead roles is preferred.
• Demonstrated organizational and time-management skills.

Job Summary

The Recovery Care Supervisor provides day-to-day administrative and operational oversight for Recovery Care Specialists within the residential treatment program. This role is responsible for coordinating staff workflow and supporting scheduling and coverage needs, monitoring completion of required documentation and assigned duties, assisting with medication coordination processes and helping ensure consistent adherence to MnTC policies, DHS requirements, 245G standards and the Culture of Honor. The Recovery Care Supervisor serves as a primary point of coordination for Recovery Care Specialists staff and program leadership, supports effective communication across departments, and helps maintain organized, reliable and compliant program operations.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The essential functions include the following:

Staff Supervision and Leadership

• Lead the selection, hiring, onboarding, supervision, and retention of Recovery Care Specialists in coordination with the Program Manager and Human Resources.
• Communicate program direction, priorities, policy updates, and operational changes to staff in a timely and consistent manner.
• Conduct regular one-on-one meetings, provide coaching, and complete annual performance reviews for assigned staff.
• Monitor staff performance, attendance, conduct, and adherence to program expectations; address concerns through coaching, retraining, documentation, or corrective action when appropriate.
• Ensure assigned staff complete required MnTC, DHS, and program-specific training within required timeframes.
• Guide staff in using approved client support practices, including the Client Success Model, reflection worksheets, privilege pauses, and other interventions authorized by program policy.

Client Support and Safety

• Spend the majority of the time on the floor with staff and clients to support supervision, relationship-building, client engagement, and a positive client experience.
• Maintain a safe, calm, and orderly environment by modeling early intervention, clear expectations, respectful communication, and relationship-centered leadership.
• Support client growth toward increased independence by reinforcing program activities, policies, procedures, recovery goals, spiritual development goals, and personal responsibility.
• Use trauma-informed care and motivational interviewing techniques to de-escalate situations, support self-regulation, and encourage client ownership.
• Respond to medical, behavioral health, safety, and client‑related concerns; involve nursing, clinical, medical, management, emergency, or other appropriate resources as needed.
• Communicate client behavior interventions, safety concerns, and significant client updates to the Program Manager and care team according to program procedure.

Program Operations

• Follow and reinforce all program policies, safety procedures, licensing requirements, organizational standards, and applicable 245G expectations.
• Create, maintain, and adjust staff schedules to ensure adequate shift coverage, continuity of supervision, and safe program operations.
• Maintain accurate records of approved paid time off and leave requests; review and approve staff timecards according to payroll deadlines and policy.
• Assist with shift assignments, attend or lead shift‑change meetings, and ensure key client and operational updates are communicated across shifts.
• Review the facility log daily to verify required procedures are followed and to identify concerns needing documentation, follow‑up, or escalation.
• Partner with the Program Manager and administrative staff to coordinate staffing for events, outings, activities, and other program needs.
• Work Recovery Care Specialist shifts when needed to maintain coverage during staff shortages or urgent operational needs.
• Participate in weekend on‑call coverage as assigned and respond to urgent program issues according to escalation procedures.
• Safely operate MnTC vehicles to transport clients to and from approved outings, appointments, or activities as needed and when authorized.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Manager, Director, or senior leadership.

Medication Coordination

• Coordinate day‑to‑day medication processes, including client self‑administration procedures, refills, deliveries, inventory, storage, documentation, and medication security.
• Monitor medication procedures and documentation for accuracy, consistency, and compliance with organizational policy and completed training.
• Communicate medication‑related needs, concerns, discrepancies, missed doses, or errors to pharmacies, providers, nursing, program staff, clinical staff, or management as appropriate.
• Address medication‑related staff performance concerns through coaching, retraining, documentation, and collaboration with nursing and the Program Manager.
• Support staff training and competency related to medication self‑administration support, documentation, medication security, and program expectations.
• Perform medication‑related duties only within organizational policy, completed training, demonstrated competency, and applicable requirements. This position does not perform nursing assessments or duties requiring a nursing license.

Required Skills & Experience (Minimum Qualifications):

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Must be able to meet at least one of the following requirements:
• A course of study in a health or human services related field leading to a Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, or associate degree; or
• One year of experience with target population served; or
• Previous experience in a supervisory role, preferred.
• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Obtain 12 hours of training in co-occurring mental health problems training within six months of hire.
• At least 1 year of freedom from problematic substances.
• Strong administration skills with the ability to thrive in detail, repetitive, and deadline‑driven responsibilities while maintaining accuracy, organization, and consistent follow through.
• Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail, and the ability to effectively manage time.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with clients, staff, and leadership.
• Comfort and compassion in working with individuals facing life‑controlling challenges, such as mental health issues and addiction.
• Demonstrate MnTC's mission, Culture of Honor, core values, and Putting Honor in Action principles through daily interactions, fostering a welcoming, respectful, and relationship‑centered environment.
• Must be able to meet specific staff requirements outlined in Minnesota Statutes 245G.11. Reference: 245G.11 MN Statutes
• Must successfully complete a Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) background study and maintain eligibility for all DHS background studies, clearances, and requirements applicable to assigned services and programs prior to providing direct care or client services.
• Must successfully complete and maintain all required training and competency requirements applicable to the position prior to providing direct care or client services, including training related to client rights, confidentiality, mandated reporting, professional boundaries, and other applicable licensing and regulatory requirements.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

• Must be able to stand on feet for the majority of an 8 hour shift.
• Must be able to climb up and down three flights of stairs several times during a regular shift.
• Must be able to walk during the majority of a regular shift.
• Must be able to lift 30-50lbs and carry some distances.
• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Target Compensation (Negotiable based on qualifications):

Salary: $50,000 to $53,000
