Job summary

Summa Health System on the 3W-PCU-Akron Campus is seeking a Nurse Student Tech for PRN night shifts (7p-7:30a) to support the patient care team with direct patient care under the guidance of a registered nurse and with administrative duties.

Candidates must be enrolled in an accredited nursing program, have completed the first clinical rotation, and possess a current BLS-HCP card. This role emphasizes teamwork, safety, and flexibility to meet patient needs.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled as a full time or part time student in an accredited associate degree or bachelor's degree nursing program and have completed the first clinical rotation.
• Nursing Student Tech (NST) Conditions of Eligibility: An employee may remain in the NST job post-graduation and pre-licensure up to six months after which their eligibility to stay employed as an NST will cease.
• Must complete Summa's orientation and maintain current BLS-HCP card upon hire.
• Ability to read and write English, follow written and oral instructions and perform basic mathematical functions.
• Ability to work well within a team environment and support team goals.

Minimum Qualifications

• Formal Education Required:
• Must be enrolled as a full time or part time student in an accredited associate degree or bachelor's degree nursing program and have completed the first clinical rotation.

• Population Specific Competency: Ability to effectively interact with populations of patients/customers with an understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignity
• Level of Physical Demands:
• Heavy: Exerts 50-100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or ten to 20 pounds of force continuously to move objects.
• Exposure to blood and body fluids and sharps; risks to falls, strains, contagious diseases, etc.

The salary range on this job posting/advertising is base salary exclusive of any bonuses or differentials. Many factors, such as years of relevant experience and geographical location are considered when determining the starting rate of pay.
