Job summary

Summa Health is seeking a Nurse Student Tech at the Akron Campus. The NST role supports the patient care team with direct patient care under RN supervision and provides administrative/clerical support. The position requires active enrollment in a nursing program and completion of the first clinical rotation.

Candidates must have or obtain a current BLS-HCP card and be able to read and write English, follow instructions, and work well in a team. The posting notes a base hourly pay of $21.00.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled as a full-time or part-time student in an accredited nursing program and have completed the first clinical rotation.
• Must complete Summa’s orientation.
• Current BLS-HCP card upon hire and maintained thereafter.
• Ability to read and write English, follow written and oral instructions and perform basic mathematical functions.

Summary

Minimum Qualifications

• Formal Education Required:
• Must be enrolled as a full time or part time student in an accredited associate degree or bachelor’s degree nursing program and have completed the first clinical rotation.
• Nursing Student Tech (NST) Conditions of Eligibility:
• An employee may remain in the NST job post-graduation and pre-licensure up to six (6) months after which their eligibility to stay employed as an NST will cease.
• Experience and Training Required:
• Must complete Summa’s orientation
• Current BLS-HCP card upon hire and maintained thereafter
• Other Skills, Competencies and Qualifications:
• Ability to read and write English, follow written and oral instructions and perform basic mathematical functions

• Population Specific Competency: Ability to effectively interact with populations of patients/customers with an understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignity
• Level of Physical Demands:
• Heavy: Exerts 50-100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or ten to 20 pounds of force continuously to move objects.
• Exposure to blood and body fluids and sharps; risks to falls, strains, contagious diseases, etc.

Many factors, such as years of relevant experience and geographical location are considered when determining the starting rate of pay.
