Whether you’re providing hands-on care, innovating behind the scenes, or supporting those who do, your work matters.

Apply today to join our 34,000+ employees and 5,000+ system providers working to build lasting relationships with the people we serve: our patients, our communities, and each other!

Are you looking to make an impact on the physical, emotional, and cultural needs of pediatric patients and their families? Join our team as a Nursing Station Technician at the University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital! Located on the west bank of the Mississippi River in Minneapolis, we deliver a broad range of pediatric programs, including surgery, imaging, neonatal and pediatric intensive care, cardiac and oncology services, blood and marrow, and organ transplantation. Our compassionate, innovative approach has repeatedly received national recognition. We are proud to be the oldest academic children’s hospital in Minnesota and the longest-running top-ranked children’s hospital in the Twin Cities metropolitan area.

The starting base rate of pay for the Nursing Station Technician is $23.40. Candidates with experience may be hired at a higher rate of pay.

This position will work 48 hours every two weeks on the Day/Evening shift, with 8-hour shifts and every other weekend.

The Nursing Station Technician is a hybrid role, combining Nursing Assistant and Health Unit Coordinator duties to provide direct patient care and administrative support.

In this role, you will work under the supervision of a professional nurse, demonstrating excellent customer service, collaboration, and communication skills with patients, families, and the healthcare team in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities include:

  • Providing patient care such as personal hygiene, vitals, activities of daily living, repositioning, transporting, and feeding
  • Maintaining unit desk functions, including answering phones, processing admissions and discharges, transcribing orders, assembling patient charts, and ordering tests
  • Setting up and maintaining patient rooms
  • Ordering and stocking supplies
Required Qualifications

License/Certification/Registration

  • Six months of recent direct care experience in a long-term, home care, or acute care setting (e.g., Nursing Assistant, PCA, Resident Assistant, Emergency Room Technician).
  • Current enrollment in an LPN, RN, or Nurse Practitioner program, with at least one semester of clinical rotation completed.
  • Current certification on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry upon hire (not required to be maintained throughout employment). This is not required if transferring into another Nursing Assistant, Nursing Station Tech, or Nursing Station Attendant position.

Preferred: At least 6 months of nursing support or NST experience in pediatrics.
