Job summary

You will schedule staff, manage call-outs and agency staffing, monitor overtime, and collaborate with nursing leadership to align staffing with census and acuity. This role requires strong organizational skills and effective communication.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; associate degree or healthcare education preferred.
• Experience in scheduling or staffing in healthcare (nursing home preferred).
• Knowledge of staffing ratios and long-term care regulations (especially in New Jersey).
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle staffing emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain weekly and daily nursing staff schedules (RNs, LPNs, CNAs).
• Ensure adequate staffing coverage for all shifts in compliance with state regulations and facility needs.
• Manage call-outs, replacements, and last-minute staffing changes.
• Contact and schedule per diem, part-time, and agency staff as needed.
• Monitor overtime and work to minimize unnecessary labor costs.
• Maintain accurate staffing records, attendance logs, and timekeeping data.
• Collaborate with nursing leadership to adjust staffing based on census and acuity levels.
• Ensure compliance with staffing ratios and regulatory requirements.
• Track and report absenteeism, tardiness, and staffing trends.
• Assist with onboarding schedules and orientation for new hires.
• Communicate effectively with all levels of staff to ensure smooth shift transitions.
• Participate in on-call rotation for staffing coverage (if required)
