Job summary

The University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, seeks a Grants & Contracts Manager for the Office of Nursing Research and Scholarship (ONRS). You will supervise staff, lead pre-award strategy, and act as a liaison with faculty and sponsorship agencies in a hybrid work setting.

Responsibilities include optimizing pre-award processes, developing research impact metrics, and managing a small grant portfolio. This role reports to the Interim Associate Deans for Research.

Qualifications

• BA/BS plus at least 6 years of experience.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Experience solving complex problems using technology, resources, process improvement and people skills.
• Experience supervising and managing a team, including hiring, training, rewarding, promoting, disciplining, and discharge.

Responsibilities

• Directly supervise grants and contract staff and manage ONRS staff responsibilities.
• Improve pre-award processes to reduce friction and train staff.
• Develop and track research impact metrics for the School of Nursing.
• Advise faculty researchers on sponsor portfolios and timing for submissions.
• Build and maintain relationships with faculty researchers across the SoN.
• Lead 2–4 pre-award proposals from start to finish during peak periods.
• Coordinate with post-award staff and sponsor approvals.
• Master grant submission platforms to ensure compliant applications.
