Job summary

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA is seeking a Nursing Professional Development Specialist for the General Intensive Care Unit. The NPD Specialist will promote nursing education, serve as an expert clinician, and mentor staff to advance from beginner to expert status.

This full-time day-shift role requires a BSN with MSN, RN licensure, BLS/ACLS/PALS, and a minimum of 3 years of nursing experience.

  • Registered Nursing License (Required).
  • BLS, ACLS and PALS (Required).
  • Minimum of 3 years nursing experience.

  • Promotes professional development and applies nursing clinical expertise in identified patient populations.
  • Serves as a clinical resource to staff and mentors staff to advance from beginner to expert status.
  • Leads, facilitates, and/or participates in interprofessional quality initiatives, implementing evidence-based nursing practices and shared decision making.
  • Accountable for defined aspects of staff development, continuing education and professional development of nursing staff.

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is hiring a Nursing Professional Development Specialist for the General Intensive Care Unit!

Hours/Shift: Full Time (40 hr/week) - Day Shift

Overview:

The Nursing Professional Development (NPD) Specialist promotes professional development application of nursing clinical expertise in specified patient populations. Serves as an expert clinician, consistently serving as a clinical resource to staff. Recognized as a mentor; works to develop staff from beginner to expert status. Critically analyzes care delivered in identified service area against evidence based practice standards and seeks ways to improve outcomes. Accountable for defined aspects of staff development, continuing education and professional development of nursing staff. Leads, facilitates, and/or participates in interprofessional quality initiatives, implementing evidence-based nursing practices, shared decision making, and other educational plans and activities.

This position will primarily suport the General ICU with overap for IMCUs.

Education

  • Bachelor of Science Nursing- MSN (Required)

Certification/Licensure

  • Registered Nursing License (Required)
  • BLS, ACLS and PALS (Required)

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years relevant nursing experience
