Job summary

Shriners Children's is seeking a Nursing Professional Development Specialist to design, implement, and evaluate onboarding programs for nursing staff and allied healthcare team members. The role focuses on building competency, promoting lifelong learning, and advancing patient care through education and research.

Responsibilities include coordinating onboarding, assessing competency, creating ongoing education activities, and supporting EBP and QI initiatives across pediatric care settings.

Qualifications

  • BSN required.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Current BLS certification.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses and supports staff competency; documents performance gaps.
  • Develops continuing education activities to close knowledge or practice gaps.
  • Promotes lifelong learning and role development through NPD initiatives.
  • Supports evidence-based practice, quality improvement, and research dissemination.

Job Summary

The Nursing Professional Development Specialist at Shriners Hospitals for Children designs, implements, and evaluates educational programs to support the professional growth and competency of nursing staff, ultimately enhancing patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develops, coordinates, manages, facilitates, conducts, and evaluates clinical onboarding/orientation programs for nursing & other healthcare personnel.
  • Assesses, measures, documents and supports competency, and addresses deficiencies in staff members’ competence.
  • Creates, manages, implements, coordinates, and evaluates continuing educational activities to address practice gaps for identified target audience developed to achieve specific outcomes to identified gaps in knowledge, skills, or practice.
  • Identification and development of strategies to facilitate a continuous process of maturation through lifelong learning that allows for role transition, role integration, skill acquisition and succession planning
  • Promotes and integrates the science of NPD specialty to continuously improve practice.
  • In addition, promotes research, EBP, QI in patient care settings.
  • NPD Specialist may conduct, encourage, participate in research, EBP, QI, including dissemination of findings.
Required Qualifications
  • BSN- Bachelor in Nursing
  • Current CPR
  • Current BLS
