Overview

The Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital is hiring a Nursing Professional Development Generalist to support the Nursing Education Department. The role involves assessing educational needs, designing and implementing training programs, and ensuring nurses maintain competencies aligned with clinical standards and regulations. The generalist will collaborate with other healthcare professionals to improve patient outcomes, promote evidence-based practice, and enhance overall quality of care.

Location & Hours

Virginia Beach, VA. Full‑time 40 hours per week, Monday‑to‑Friday dayshift.

Responsibilities

• Assess educational needs of nursing teams
• Design and implement training programs
• Ensure competence maintenance aligned with standards
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals to improve patient outcomes and evidence‑based practice
• Function as a learning facilitator for orientation, practice transitions, and continuing education
• Provide foundational competency and skills validation to advance nurses from novice to competent practitioners
• Accountable for staff development, continuing education, and professional development to improve quality, safety, and patient outcomes
• Support system and hospital performance improvement and evidence‑based practice projects and initiatives

Qualifications
