Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Department of Military and Veterans Affairs is seeking an Assistant Director of Nursing at the Pennsylvania Soldiers' and Sailors' Home. You will support the Director of Nursing, guide clinical operations, and lead staff development to improve resident care.

This role provides nursing services leadership, ensures regulatory compliance, coordinates with interdisciplinary teams, and drives quality improvement.

Qualifications

• Two years as a Registered Nurse Supervisor or three years as a Registered Nurse Instructor (Commonwealth job titles or equivalent Federal Government job titles, as determined by the Office of Administration) in a facility providing care and services for people with a mental or physical injury, illness, or developmental disability.
• Six years of professional nursing experience, which includes one year in a supervisory or consultative capacity providing nursing care and services for people with a mental or physical injury, illness, or developmental disability; a bachelor's degree in nursing, nursing education, or nursing administration. A master's degree may substitute for up to one year.
• An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes one year in a supervisory or consultative capacity providing nursing care and services for people with a mental or physical disability.

Responsibilities

• Clinical Oversight: Coordinate nursing services to ensure resident needs are met according to standards and regulations
• Care Monitoring: Review resident conditions and ensure that changes are documented and communicated promptly
• Regulatory Compliance: Support activities related to surveys, corrective actions, and policy implementation
• Staff Leadership: Provide supervision, coaching, and performance guidance for nursing personnel
• Operational Support: Assist with planning, scheduling, and resource management to maintain efficient nursing operations
• Quality Improvement: Participate in quality assurance efforts to monitor trends, identify risks, and support improvement measures
