Job summary

Johns Hopkins Medicine is seeking a Shift Director for Johns Hopkins Howard County Medical Center, a 266-bed acute care facility, to ensure the smooth operation of the hospital during evening, night, weekends and holidays. The director provides clinical leadership and coordinates interdepartmental activity.

Qualified candidates will be graduates of an accredited nursing program with BSN required (or must enroll in a BSN within 4 years).

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited program of professional nursing.
• BSN required, or must complete a BSN program within 4 years of their hire date with steady progress toward degree completion.
• Minimum of five (5) years clinical experience in health care setting with at least three (3) years in administrative/supervisory responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• The Shift Director is accountable to ensure the smooth operation of the hospital during his/her shift and to facilitate problem resolution throughout the hospital.
• Assumes responsibility for the overall operation of all units in the absence of the Unit Manager/Director on evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
• Provides clinical expertise and oversees management activities during the shift in consultation with the Unit Manager/Director.
