Role Description

The Nursing Manager is a full-time, on-site role based at Summa Rehab Hospital in Akron, OH. This role oversees nursing operations for designated units, including staffing, scheduling, and workload management to ensure safe and effective patient care. The Nursing Manager provides clinical leadership, mentors and evaluates nursing team members, and promotes evidence-based practices in rehabilitation and acute care settings. Daily responsibilities include coordinating interdisciplinary care plans, monitoring patient outcomes and quality metrics, supporting compliance with regulatory and hospital policies, and addressing patient and family concerns. The role also involves participation in performance improvement initiatives, staff education, budget awareness, and collaboration with physicians and other leaders to enhance care delivery and team performance.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess strong Nursing Management and leadership skills, including team supervision, resource coordination, and performance evaluation.
• Candidates should possess solid Nursing and Patient Care skills, with experience in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating individualized care in a hospital setting.
• Candidates should possess relevant knowledge to support safe clinical decision-making and complex patient needs in rehabilitation and acute care contexts.
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Ohio, with a BSN preferred; advanced certification in rehabilitation or critical care nursing is an asset.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams, communicate clearly with patients, families, and staff, and manage conflict constructively.
• Experience with quality improvement, clinical documentation standards, and regulatory compliance (e.g., Joint Commission, state and federal guidelines) is beneficial.
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and critical-thinking abilities, with comfort using electronic health records and hospital information systems.
