Job summary

Cottonwood Canyon Healthcare Center in California seeks an Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to support the Director of Nursing in managing licensed and non-licensed staff on a 24/7 basis.

The ADON will assist in planning, developing and supervising nursing services, recruit and train staff, conduct appraisals, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements while maintaining residents' rights and safety. Some direct resident care may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing; state board licensure in good standing.
• Must maintain continuing education/licensing requirements.
• 3-5 years of nurse management experience, preferably in long-term care facility.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and standard clinical software.

Responsibilities

• Assist the DON in planning, developing and supervising nursing staff.
• Assist in development and implementation of nursing services, objectives, policies and procedures.
• Work with the DON to recruit, hire and train nursing staff.
• Assist DON with employee appraisals and disciplinary actions.
• Act as back-up for the DON, RN and LVN staff.
• May provide direct resident care as needed.
• Oversee clinical operations, including daily rounds and monitoring resident conditions.
• Ensure resident safety and respect for residents.
• Liaison between residents, family members and physicians.
• Attend staff meetings and conduct staff meetings if DON is unavailable.
• Provide reports and recommendations to the DON regarding nursing services operation.
• Assist in design, implementation and evaluation of nursing systems to ensure consistent delivery of care and respect for residents’ rights.
• Assist DON with ongoing in-services for nursing staff.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding residents and employees; stay updated on regulatory changes.
