Job summary

Bethel University’s Undergraduate Nursing Lab in Saint Paul seeks a student assistant to oversee the nursing lab during open lab hours, help students with equipment and lab tasks, and support faculty as needed.

This part-time role runs 3:30 pm–8:00 pm, Sunday through Thursday, with occasional extra hours and light duties including setup, cleanup, and basic clerical tasks. Candidates must be a Bethel junior or senior nursing student in good standing.

Qualifications

• Bethel University nursing student, junior or senior, in good academic standing.
• Able to assist with lab setup, supervision, and student support.
• Willing to perform light secretarial/computer duties and cleaning tasks.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the nursing lab during open lab hours.
• Assist students with equipment, lab tasks, and understanding procedures.
• Set up equipment for learning experiences and assist with projects as needed.
• Close the lab at the end of the day and communicate concerns to the Nursing Lab Director.

About the role

• This role will oversee the nursing lab during open lab hours; occasional light secretarial/computer duties; assist students with finding equipment, understanding lab assignments, performing procedures, and practicing for performance exams. Cleaning duties include setting up chairs/tables, straightening beds, putting items away, cleaning sinks, emptying waste baskets, making beds, laundry, refilling of towels and soap, and vacuuming as needed. This role will set up equipment for learning experiences, communicate concerns and questions to Nursing Lab Director and/or lab associate, closing lab at the end of the day, and may work on some projects at faculty request.

• Must be a Bethel junior or senior nursing student in good academic standing

This job operates in the Undergrad Nursing Lab at 3900 Bethel Drive.

The physical demands described here are representative of those required of an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. The job requires extended periods of standing and frequent traversing of the Undergrad Nursing Lab. Ability to lift, carry, push/pull up to 25 lbs., including boxes, training dolls, etc. Able to stand on a step stool to reach top shelves.

Expected Hours of Work:

Hours of work are 3:30pm to 8pm with occasionaladditional hours during the week or weekend days as needed. Shifts are during the evening Sunday-Thursday.
