Job summary

Lone Star College is seeking a Coordinator II, Nursing Lab to create and manage a multidimensional educational link between nursing courses and the nursing lab, enabling students to connect the rationale and theory for the skills they will perform in the clinical setting.

The role collaborates with faculty to schedule labs, ensures safety and regulatory compliance, maintains inventory and budget, mentors ADN, Transition and VN students, and supports grant proposals and department initiatives

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher and at least 3 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Current LVN or RN license with the State of Texas.
• Basic Life Support certification for Health Care Workers.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with faculty to create nursing laboratory schedules.
• Maintains communication with faculty regarding lab assignments and setups.
• Assists with utilization and troubleshooting of simulators.
• Maintains safety protocols and compliance with regulatory agencies.
• Keeps accurate inventory and quality assurance of lab equipment.
• Orients students and faculty to the nursing lab and mentors ADN, Transition, VN programs.
• Participates in System-Wide Nursing Lab Coordinator Committee meetings.
• Coordinates with the bookstore to order laboratory packs.
• Collaborates on grant proposals to obtain additional funding.
• Assists with department budget preparation and tracks expenditures.
• Coordinates lab tours and events.
• Improves procedures to enhance learning in the lab.
• Supervises part-time student workers.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
