Job summary

Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) is seeking an Instructor, Nursing to deliver competency-based instruction across classroom, lab, and clinical settings. The role may include evening or off-campus teaching and online components within a 9-month academic year.

The ideal candidate will hold a Master’s or Doctorate in Nursing, be licensed as an Iowa RN or eligible to obtain, and demonstrate strong clinical teaching experience and a commitment to student success and diversity.

Qualifications

• Master’s or Doctorate degree with a major in Nursing.
• 3 years clinical work experience related to teaching.
• BCLS certification.
• Iowa RN license or ability to obtain prior to start.
• Ability to function effectively in a team environment.
• Demonstrated effectiveness working with diverse populations.
• Compliance with clinical partner requirements (vaccinations, health screenings, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Teaches assigned nursing courses in accordance with course competencies and syllabi.
• Develops and maintains current course materials and outlines; prepares lecture/lab and clinical materials.
• Informs students about course requirements, evaluation procedures, and attendance policies.
• Advises students regarding academic needs and refers them for assistance as needed.
• Promotes the college and nursing program and participates in recruitment and marketing efforts.
