Minimum Qualifications

Education Requirements:

Required: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing ( BSN ) from a regionally accredited institution with an agreement to enroll and complete an accredited MSN program within five years of hire.

Work Experience:

Required: A minimum of two years of clinical nursing experience and a current unrestricted license to practice as a registered nurse in North Carolina.

Required Skills:

Excellent oral and written communication. Proficiency with commonly used computer software. Ability to work in a team environment.

Current CPR – BLS

Preferred Qualifications

Education Requirements:
Preferred: Master’s degree in Nursing ( MSN ) from a regionally accredited institution and certification in nursing education ( CNE ).

Work Experience:
Women’s Health/OB, or med-surg intermediate level nursing care.
Preferred: Post-secondary teaching experience.

Position Description

Full time 9 month position with the Nursing program.

The chosen candidate will have teaching responsibilities primarily in the clinical setting, with some classroom and lab responsibilities (as needed). The chosen candidate will work with seasoned faculty to mentor students transitioning into the nursing program and will assist with student success strategies that are aimed towards professionalism, retention, and progression.

Clinical assignments include one to two days of clinical, typically during day shift, and occurs in one of our numerous clinical agencies within BCCC’s service, and surrounding regions. ( ECU health facilities, long-term care facilities, etc.)

Lab and theory instruction occurs on the BCCC campus. Theory is primarily delivered in the classroom environment, but may include virtual instruction, based on program needs.

If the chosen candidate does not have teaching experience, they will receive preparation in teaching and learning principles, including curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation, as required by the NC Board of Nursing. The individual will also participate in course and curriculum design; development of student learning outcomes; evaluation of curriculum; college committees; advising and registering of nursing students; maintaining office hours; and fulfilling all the duties and responsibilities of BCCC faculty.

The chosen candidate will be mentored by experienced faculty to ensure continuity of program outcomes and a smooth transition into the faculty role.
