Job summary

MedVet is seeking a Nursing/ICU Veterinary Technician - Overnights to join our clinical team in Utah. The role supports patients requiring critical care, anesthesia and recovery, with a sign-on bonus based on skillset and experience.

Responsibilities include rounds, triage, client education and collaboration with the DVM. This position offers benefits and advancement opportunities within a fast-growing network.

Qualifications

• Valid State RVT license preferred.
• Experience in nursing or critical care preferred.
• Proficient in drug calculations and infusion rates.

Responsibilities

• Record and deliver rounds, discuss cases and gather information.
• Evaluate incoming patients and prioritize based on assessment.
• Partner with care team on treatment plans and client communication.
• Educate clients on home care, medications and hospital care.
• Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures.
• Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients.
• Induce and monitor anesthesia and sedation procedures.
• Perform in-house lab testing and prepare samples for outside testing.

We are looking for: Nursing/ICU Veterinary Technician - Overnights

Proposed Schedule:

Week 1: Wed, Thur, Sat 7p-730a Week 2: Sunday, Thur, Fri 7p-730a

Never a dull moment in the Nursing department! Our patients need constant supervision to ensure treatment plans are being executed. This department is perfect for someone who can identify patient distress and react accordingly, enjoys phlebotomy, placing IV catheters, assisting with recovery and client follow up and education.

What you’ll do:

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather additional information as necessary
• Evaluating incoming patients and prioritizing based on assessment
• Partner with patient care team regarding treatment plans, client communication and nursing care concerns
• Provide client education including, but not limited to: home care instructions, medications (indications, adverse reactions) and general wellness updates on hospitalized patients
• Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures
• Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients
• Induce and monitor general anesthesia and sedation procedures
• Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratory testing

Who you are:

• State Registered Veterinary Technician license preferred
• Prior veterinary experience required, previous nursing or critical care experience desired
• Proficient in calculations (drugs, constant rate infusions, unit conversions, etc.)
• Flexibility with work hours and able to work additional hours when necessary
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
