MedVet in South Salt Lake, Utah, seeks a Nursing/ICU Veterinary Technician - Days to join our emergency and specialty team. Enjoy a sign-on bonus up to 10,000 USD based on skill and experience, with comprehensive benefits.

The role focuses on monitoring, nursing care, anesthesia, client education and collaboration with the DVM and care team in a fast-paced hospital. Ideal candidates have RVT licensure or equivalent nursing experience, proficiency in drug calculations, and strong communication

Qualifications

• RVT license preferred; veterinary experience required.
• Nursing/critical care experience preferred.
• Proficient in drug calculations and CRI/infusion rate calculations.
• Flexible with hours; able to work additional hours as needed.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Record and deliver organized rounds; discuss cases and gather information.
• Evaluate incoming patients and prioritize based on assessment.
• Partner with patient care team on treatment plans and client communication.
• Educate clients on home care, medications and wellness of hospitalized patients.
• Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures.
• Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients.
• Induce and monitor anesthesia and sedation procedures.
• Perform in-house labs and prep specimens for outside labs.

We are looking for:

Nursing/ICU Veterinary Technician - Days

Never a dull moment in the Nursing department! Our patients need constant supervision to ensure treatment plans are being executed. This department is perfect for someone who can identify patient distress and react accordingly, enjoys phlebotomy, placing IV catheters, assisting with recovery and client follow up and education.

What you’ll do:

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather additional information as necessary
• Evaluating incoming patients and prioritizing based on assessment
• Partner with patient care team regarding treatment plans, client communication and nursing care concerns
• Provide client education including, but not limited to: home care instructions, medications (indications, adverse reactions) and general wellness updates on hospitalized patients
• Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures
• Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients
• Induce and monitor general anesthesia and sedation procedures
• Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratory testing

Who you are:

• State Registered Veterinary Technician license preferred
• Prior veterinary experience required, previous nursing or critical care experience desired
• Proficient in calculations (drugs, constant rate infusions, unit conversions, etc.)
• Flexibility with work hours and able to work additional hours when necessary
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
