Job description

In order to work as a Registered Nurse in Washington state, an individual must possess a Washington state or compact state nursing license. The Nursing program at Everett Community College meets the state education requirements for an associate degree nursing license (ADN) in the state of Washington and any states participating in the nursing compact. This license is granted to students who complete the Everett Community College Nursing program and pass the NCLEX exam.

This position teaches courses within the Nursing program for the biannual Evening cohort, delivering curriculum in various classroom, clinical, and laboratory settings.

SALARY: $87,171 to $91,531 annually*

WORKLOAD: Full-time, 1.0 FTE

SCHEDULE: September through June, days/times vary but are primarily in the evening with occasional weekends

Teaching
  • Foster an equitable, anti-racist, and culturally inclusive learning environment and demonstrate an awareness of the experiences and needs of the current student population.
  • Develop curriculum, prepare, modify and deliver teaching/learning activities designed to maximize student learning and foster inclusive excellence.
  • Teach courses in accordance with the course record, course syllabus, approved student learning objectives, and quarterly course schedules. Design and/or deliver course assignments, learning activities and assessments that enable students to meet the course's stated learning outcomes.
  • Develop a current course syllabus using the College's inclusive syllabus template and submit it to the Instruction Office prior to the start of the quarter.
  • At the course level, assess student work using appropriate methodologies that promote further learning; at the department or program level; at the program or department level, disaggregate, review and assess student learning outcomes with the goal of continuous improvement and reduction of opportunity gaps.
  • Complete summative evaluations of student work during the College's scheduled finals week; submit final grades by the designated deadline.
  • Create and maintain department and student records in accordance with college policies and procedures.
  • Refer students to college services, community agencies and other professionals as appropriate.
  • Establish, post, and maintain regularly scheduled office hours for consultation with students.
Program Advising
  • Advise a caseload of currently enrolled students.
  • Participate in professional development to maintain and update advising skills.
  • Participate in advising cross-training.
  • Provide program advising as assigned for students in all areas in which cross-trained.
  • Proactively contact all assigned students each contractual quarter.
  • Participate in advisee student support networks.
  • Active use of institutionally sanctioned advising platform(s) as appropriate for scheduling, record-keeping, degree planning, and communicating with advisees with ongoing development, training, and support provided by the college.
  • Support students in developing the following skills:
    1. Transfer and career planning.
    2. Building, modifying, and adhering to a degree plan.
    3. Identifying and adhering to institutional deadlines.
    4. Accessing essential resources on campus.
    5. Accessing technological resources that will assist them in monitoring their program blocks, graduation and transfer requirements.
    6. Identifying and overcoming barriers to academic success.
  • Participate in the evaluation of advising activities in order to support continuous improvement and student success.
Participation in College Priorities
  • Contribute to EvCC's mission, vision and values and to the priorities and objectives articulated in the College's strategic plan(s).
  • Attend and participate in:
    1. the first two days of annual opening week activities held in the Fall quarter
    2. department and division meetings
    3. training activities as mandated by state and federal law
    4. professional development program mandated by Washington Senate Bill 5227
  • Actively participate and engage in at least one College committee, task force, governance body, student club, or other College-organized activity.
Continuation of Professional Standards
  • Stay current in relevant best practices, emerging topics, and research, especially those related to the mission, vision, and values of the college.
  • Maintain certification and/or licensure required by the College in the performance of the faculty member’s assignment.
  • Read and respond to College communications in a timely manner when on contract
Reassigned Time
  • The leadership of the College has the right to assign faculty duties to faculty members.
  • Faculty may be assigned non-faculty duties including, but not limited to, administrative functions, leadership of College initiatives, or other specially assigned duties.
