Job summary

Fortis College in Cuyahoga Falls, OH has a current opening for a Nursing Instructor. Faculty provide curriculum delivery across didactic, lab, and clinical settings and are accountable to the Dean/Director of Nursing.

A current, active RN license in Ohio and MSN are required; BSN may be acceptable for the PN track. Teaching experience is preferred but not required. Strong communication, teaching, and computer skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Current, active RN license in Ohio.
• MSN to teach didactic, lab, and clinical courses; for the PN diploma program, a BSN may be acceptable depending on local accreditation/state requirements.
• Previous higher education/postsecondary teaching experience is preferred but not required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and analytical skills.
• Excellent teaching and classroom management skills
• Competence in basic computer applications: word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and email.
• Criminal background check, drug screening, required immunizations, CPR and HIPAA certifications.
• Provides annual documentation of continuing professional growth at the employee’s expense.

These s chools are known as Fortis College, Fortis Institute, Denver School of Nursing , and St. Paul’s School of Nursing. Our programs range from practical nursing to M SN degrees.

Position Description :

Nursing faculty are professionals with the education and practice skills to prepare the next generation of nurses . Faculty members are accountable to the Dean/Director of Nursing for the implementation of the approved curriculum based on the mission and philosophy of the nursing program and the College/Campus . They provide students with opportunities to acqu ire the knowledge and practice the skills iden tified in course obje ctives usi ng varied and appr opriate teaching met hods . They plan learning activities to meet program outcomes based on the standards set by policies, legal and other regulatory requirements, and acceptable practice . Faculty also part icipate in the program’s evaluation and continuous improvement process and engage in personal professional development.

Requirements:

• A current, active, unencumbered license as a registered nurse in the state of Ohio or a multistate privilege to practice in Ohio.
• An MSN to teach didactic, lab, and clinical courses for the associate degree program; for the Practical Nursing diploma program, a BSN may be acceptable depending on local accreditation/state requirements.
• Previous higher education/postsecondary teaching experience is preferred but not required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and analytical skills.
• Excellent teaching and classroom management skills
• Functional abilities to carry out classroom, clinical, and laboratory teaching responsibilities
• Competence in clinical skills in areas of teaching
• Competent in personal computer applications: word processing, spreadsheet, database, and email.
