Job summary

Monrovia-Gardens Healthcare Center is seeking a Food Service Worker to assist in preparing meals in accordance with federal, state, and local standards under the guidance of Dietary Department management. You will work with a dietician to ensure residents receive nutritionally appropriate meals and review menus prior to preparation.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year experience in food services for nursing facility or hospital
• Must be able to cook food in large quantities
• Must be knowledgeable of food procedures
• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
• Must be able to follow oral and written instructions

Responsibilities

• Prepare food in accordance with federal, state, and local standards
• Work with Dietician to ensure diet meets residents’ nutritional needs
• Review menus prior to food preparation
• Handle food in a sanitary manner
• Prepare and serve meals that are palatable and appetizing
• Serve food according to portion control
• Inspect special diet trays to ensure correct diet is served
• Maintain sanitation and food safety guidelines during meal prep and cleanup
• Keep work areas clean and organized
• Dispose of food and waste per facility regulations
