The Florida Department of Health in Vero Beach is seeking a Nursing Program Specialist - Epidemiology to support communicable disease surveillance and outbreak investigations. You will work under supervision, access confidential data, apply quality improvement methods, and collaborate with the epidemiology team and medical partners to protect community health.

Applicants should hold an active Florida RN license, BLS, and have substantial epidemiology experience; a MPH is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Active Florida Registered Nurse License.
  • Basic Life Support Certification.
  • 5 years Epidemiology experience preferred.
  • Masters Degree in Public Health preferred.
  • Experience in Infection Control preferred.

Responsibilities

  • This is varied and professional nursing work in the Communicable Disease Program for epidemiology and surveillance of reportable diseases and outbreaks.
  • Provides oversight and direction to the Epidemiology Program for investigation, control and prevention of diseases and conditions of public health significance.
  • Monitors disease surveillance systems and other data sources to inform public health actions.
  • Conducts disease and condition case and outbreak investigations, as needed, and provides QA through data quality reports.
  • Collaborates with EPI team and state partners to support TB clients and population health efforts.
  • Covers for Supervisor in their absence; participates in nursing on-call rotation.

Education

Master's Degree in Public Health
Basic Life Support Certification
