Job summary

Florida Department of Health in Indian River County seeks a Nursing Program Specialist to staff the Special Needs Shelter during activations and to support the School Health Department.

The role requires an active Florida RN license, BLS certification, and pediatric nursing experience; you will administer pediatric immunizations, coordinate employee health services, provide case management and health education, and work with the DOE School Health Coordinator to ensure high-quality care in school

Qualifications

• Active Florida Registered Nurse license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Valid Driver License.
• Must be trained in EPI (Merlin, ADAP, TB, etc.).
• Minimum 2 years of pediatric nursing experience.
• Serves in on-call nursing rotation.
• Ability to work emergency duties including shelter operations.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care in the School Health Department and Special Needs Shelter during activations.
• Administer pediatric immunizations and educate children and parents on immunization schedules.
• Assist in coordinating Employee Health Program including LTBI screening and FIT testing.
• Perform nursing assessments, counseling and referrals for students.
• Coordinate with School Health Supervisor and Health Room staff to respond to outbreaks.
• Conduct health trainings and community education for students, staff and families.
• Support clinical projects and preparedness planning as assigned by the Director of Nursing.
