Job summary

Sentara Health is seeking a Nursing Professional Development (NPD) Specialist to support the Women’s Health Transition to Practice Program at the Sentara Simulation Center. The NPD Specialist develops, implements, and evaluates educational programs for nursing staff and healthcare teams to advance professional development and clinical competency.

The role emphasizes evidence-based practice, quality improvement, and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to support the transition to practice

Qualifications

Must hold MS in Nursing (MSN).
RN license in the state(s) of practice required.
NPD-BC certification required.
BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and evaluate nursing education and professional development programs.
Facilitate clinical education, competency development, and training activities for nursing staff.
Provide mentorship and serve as a clinical resource to support nursing practice.
Develop educational materials and conduct in-service education sessions.
Support evidence-based nursing practices and quality improvement initiatives.
Collaborate with nursing leadership and interdisciplinary teams to identify educational needs.
Promote professional growth and support the transition to practice for nursing staff.
