Job summary

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with Texas RN license.
• Supervisory or leadership experience in a hospital or long-term care setting, with geriatric focus preferred.
• Current RN licensure required.

Responsibilities

• Establish objectives for the department of nursing and the organizational structure for achieving these objectives.
• Guide nursing personnel in development of personal and professional objectives and in setting unit goals.
• Interpret and implement administrative policies and standards as established by governing authorities.
• Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations in all areas of nursing care.
• Develop and/or approve all Nursing Service policies.
• Plan, organize, and direct nursing personnel in fulfilling their responsibilities for nursing service.
• Collaborate with Medical Director and Quality teams in execution of resident care policies.
• Prepare the budget for the Nursing Service Department and manage resources efficiently.
• Educate nurse leaders on budgeted allowances and cost containment.
• Identify staffing needs and supervise/direct reports.
• Provide professional growth and development; set goals and evaluate performance.
• Monitor and provide feedback; conduct annual performance evaluations.
• Plan and implement QA/AAC with Buckner guidelines.
