Job summary

Bedrock Healthcare seeks a Director of Nursing (DON) to oversee the Nursing Department and coordinate with other disciplines to provide quality patient care in Wisconsin. The DON will monitor nursing outcomes, ensure regulatory compliance, manage staffing and budgets, and participate in committee work to drive quality improvement.

The role requires current RN licensure in Wisconsin, a BSN/MSN preferred, and 3–5 years of progressive management experience in long-term or post-acute care.

Qualifications

• Current RN licensure in the state where employed.
• BSN / MSN degree preferred.
• Three to five years progressive management experience in a long-term, sub-acute or post-acute care setting preferred.
• Ability to work flexible work hours to support state and federal resident care requirements.
• Superior customer service aptitude and approach.

Responsibilities

• Ensures nursing interventions meet the personal, physical and cognitive needs of each patient/resident and maximize self care, independence, and social interaction.
• Monitors outcomes of nursing service activity, ensures compliance with standards, and utilizes resources efficiently.
• Assumes full responsibility for facility operation in the temporary absence of the Facility Administrator.
• Develops short and long-range plans for the nursing department.
• Aids in recruiting and selecting nursing staff within budgetary guidelines.
• Fosters effective employer/employee relations.
• Maintains adequate staffing ratios and preparation levels.
• Participates in patient/resident admissions evaluations.
• Maintains relationships with patients/residents, families, physicians and the community.
• Incorporates nursing philosophy into staff evaluation and education.
• Coordinates with other departments to create a positive environment for patients/residents.
• Serves on Quality Improvement and Safety Committees and reviews activities for improvement.
