ED Overview:

The Emergency Department at GW Hospital is a high-volume, 52-bed Level I Trauma Center, serving over 80,000 patients annually. It features more than 50 treatment bays, trauma resuscitation rooms, psychiatric care suites, and fast-track areas. The ED collaborates with trauma surgery, cardiology, neurology, and critical care teams to ensure timely interventions and excellent outcomes for both adult and pediatric patients. It also plays a vital role in academic training and emergency preparedness.

Job Summary:

The ED Director provides strategic, clinical, and administrative leadership for the Emergency Department, overseeing daily operations, quality outcomes, financial performance, and leading a multidisciplinary team in a Level I Trauma environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage staffing, budgeting, and resource allocation for the ED.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to uphold high standards of patient care.
  • Coordinate with medical staff and other departments to improve service delivery.
  • Monitor ED performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and accreditation standards.
  • Foster a positive work environment promoting teamwork, professional growth, and staff engagement.
  • Participate in strategic planning aligned with the hospital's mission and goals.

Qualifications
  • BSN required; MSN preferred
  • Active RN license in DC or eligible for endorsement

  • Experience managing a Level I Trauma Center ED is preferred
